BERITA SOLO - Muhammadiyah's Central Leadership (PP) reacted strongly to the results of the National Police's investigation into the May 21 and 22 riot in Jakarta.
When releasing the results of the investigation on Friday (5/7) then, a slide aired by the National Police showed information that the perpetrators of the riots were from Pemuda Muhammadiyah. However, the slide was not read.
Muhammadiyah Youth PP Chairperson Razikin Juraid explained that the Muhammadiyah Autonomous Organization had explicitly called on all cadres in Indonesia not to be involved in actions that rejected the KPU's announcement of the presidential election results.
"On the contrary, the Muhammadiyah Youth actually asked all cadres to succeed in the 2019 election both as voters, election organizers, election observers, and election participants," Razikin said in a written statement on Monday (8/7).
For this reason, the former Chairperson of the Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM) DPP stressed that the actions of May 21 and 22 had no connection with the Muhammadiyah Youth, which was not organizationally concerned.
While the alleged involvement of cadres in the riots must be seen clearly with in-depth investigation. Especially, in what capacity is the individual allegedly involved. Because, organizationally the Muhammadiyah Youth never issued instructions to take part in the action.
"That based on the things mentioned above, the Muhammadiyah Youth objected to the Muhammadiyah Youth institution being included by the police," said Razikin.
