Beritasolo ■ Borobudur area, Magelang, Central Java continues to be polished to be prepared as one of the new destinations besides Bali.
New infrastructure is being prepared including a railroad line between Borobudur and Jogjakarta.
KAI's Managing Director, Didiek Hartantyo said he would open a railroad route to Borobudur. This is related to the recovery of tourism when Covid-19.
"From the Tugu station to Magelang there is an old track (track) which is not active, a study is currently being carried out whether to use an active track," he said during a meeting with the House of Representatives Commission X related to tourism recovery in Jakarta, Tuesday (07/07/2020).
According to him the Directorate General of KAI of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) is developing studies related to the fast route route to Borobudur from Yogyakarta. This is done to improve tourist connectivity.
The Ministry of Transportation, together with Perum Damri and the Borobudur Authority, inaugurated the land transportation mode for the Malioboro-Borobudur National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN).
Currently, tourists who are in Malioboro can easily travel to Borobudur Temple.
Head of Multimodal Transportation Head of the Ministry of Transportation, Ahmad Wahyudi, said that the mode of transportation will have a route from Malioboro - Jombor Terminal - Prambanan Temple and vice versa.
According to Ahmad, each transport can contain 9 passengers while still observing the health protocol.
"For the Malioboro route depart from Grand Inna Malioboro, to the Jombor Terminal and Borobudur Temple. In total there are 4 fleets that will depart every 30 minutes, want to fill or empty keep going, "he told reporters.
Interestingly, the method of payment for this transportation mode worth Rp. 25 thousand uses cashless where passenger data is directly entered in the database.
