BERITA SOLO - The National Aeronautics and Space Agency (LAPAN) said on Saturday, July 4, 2020 there would be an aphelion phenomenon that would have an impact and be felt in the regions of Java, Bali and Nusa Tenggara.
Aphelion is a phenomenon where the position of the Earth is at its farthest point from the Sun.
This phenomenon occurs because the Earth's orbit is not a completely perfect circle, but ellipses with a slope of about 1/60.
According to LAPAN, the phenomenon of aphelion in general has no significant impact on the Earth. But mentioning that there will be cold temperatures in the morning and then until August is common in the dry season.
"Given the current position of the Sun in the Northern Hemisphere. The impact is the effect of a drop in temperature, especially in Java, Bali and Nusa Tenggara which are located south of the equator, which is currently happening," LAPAN wrote on Instagram.
LAPAN also added that the diameter of the Sun would look slightly smaller than the average of around 15.73 arc minutes or reduced by 1.68 percent.
This year's Apple occurred on 4 July 2020 at 18.34 West Indonesian Time at a distance of 152,095,295 km.
Every year the Earth is also the closest distance to the Sun which is then called perihelion. This phenomenon has occurred in January 2020, while Aphelion occurred this July.
