BERITASOLO ■ Gakkum Subdit Team from Bali Police succeeded in thwarting the smuggling of dozens of green sea turtles caught by fishermen who will be brought to SERANGAN.
From the arrest, on Sunday (12/7) early that morning, Director of the Bali Regional Police, Kombes Pol. Toni Ariadi Effendi, emphasized that he had secured 7 people and 36 green turtles.
This arrest began with routine patrols from the Polairud team in guarding the Benoa and surrounding waters.
When a patrol sees a fishing boat owned by a suspicious fisherman, it will enter the waters at SERANGAN.
Officers immediately docked to do the inspection. The result was found there were at least 36 green turtles which until now entered protected animals.
From Muhalim's confession, the captain of the boats along with 6 crew members said that the turtles were obtained from catches in Kerajakan waters and the plan would be brought to someone known as Muhayat in SERANGAN.
Other evidence that was secured besides the sea turtle and the captain and crew also was confiscated by a 3-unit 15 PK temple. It was not explained whether the buyer's plan named Muhayat was also arrest.
"The Polairud team continues to control, related to security at sea. "In addition to guarding the entry of the boat gap from outside, it also protects unlawful things like smuggling protected marine habitats," he stressed.
For this case, said Commissioner Effendi explained the perpetrators were threatened Article 21 paragraph 2 letter (a) jo Article 40 paragraph 4 of Law no. 5 of 1990 concerning Conservation of Biological Natural Resources and their Ecosystems.
Furthermore, he said, the dozens of turtles will be first captive and deposited in Denpasar BKSDA which will be released back at the specified time.
While the perpetrators are still being processed for the development of further investigations.
